MCDOT: Ride On Runs On Dunkin'
In the latest phase of its Ride On Reimagined initiative, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) announced today that Dunkin' Express stores were installed in all 14 electric buses operated by the county.
Ride On Reimagined is a comprehensive, forward-looking assessment of the bus network resulting in changes based on current and future needs.
"What Montgomery County needs now and in the future, is more Dunkin' stores. Ride On runs on Dunkin'!" proclaimed Christopher Conklin, MCDOT Director.
The Ride On Dunkin' Express stores are based on the chain's compact airport kiosk design, offering doughnuts, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and signature beverages.
Ride On Dunkin' Express stores will be installed on the remainder of MCDOT's 400 buses over the next few months, Conklin said.
MCDOT's Ride On announcement comes on the heels of a tiny Dunkin' store opening in the Friendship Heights Metro station, the chain's Damascus water tower licensing deal, and a multi-million dollar supply contract with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS).
As part of Dunkins' ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, the Ride On Dunkin' Express stores on electric buses will donate two percent of sales this month to MCPS to help offset the millions of dollars in wasteful spending on their electric school bus contract.
