The Cheapest Used Cars for Sale in Montgomery County
US used car prices are surging again, up 6.3% from a year ago. According to CarEdge, the average used car listing price in early July was $25,512.
But what if you're really tight on cash, or just need a "beater" for quick errands like dump runs? We decided to answer that question: How much is the cheapest car for sale in Montgomery County?
Our standards were low: a clean title, no major reported mechanical issues, and a description stating the vehicle is road-ready. We searched Montgomery County listings on Facebook Marketplace, Cars.com, and Autotrader.com.
Their air conditioning might not work, they aren't pretty, and they might even leave you stranded in the center lane of I-495. Believe it or not, though, there are cars for sale in Montgomery County for less than $2,000. Here's what we discovered:
#5 -- 2009 Mercedes Benz ML350
$1,900 / 313,974 mi.
At 313,000 miles, this vehicle has traveled the most by far among our finds. This 4-wheel-drive SUV "runs and drives as it should," according to the seller, who also noted the A/C works great. A deer collision two years ago necessitated a new front fender and headlight assembly, leaving some minor cosmetic blemishes. It boasts new or recent power steering pump and serpentine belt, main and auxiliary batteries, tires, brakes, and A/C compressor. Listing.
#4 -- 2003 Ford Windstar
$1,900 / 178,800 mi.
This base model, 7-passenger Windstar is in good working condition, per its owner. They also mentioned the power windows are inoperable (though the A/C works), there's a minor oil leak, significant suspension rust, non-functional dashboard warning lights, and an occasional "door unlocked" beep even when doors are secured. Sounds about right for $1,900. Listing.
#3 -- 2004 Dodge Caravan
$1,850 / 220,000 mi.
Three of our five cheapest finds are minivans. This Caravan SE model sits in the middle of the pack. According to the seller, it "runs and drives" and is "ready for work or normal use." No listing is available because this van sold before the article was posted. If you want a car under $2,000, you have to act fast!
#2 -- 2009 Toyota Prius
$1,800 / 220,000 mi.
Tied for the cheapest used car in Montgomery County, this Advanced Hatchback 4-door might seem high-mileage at 220,000 miles, but if any car can reach 300,000, it's the Prius. This vehicle passed MVA inspection in October 2025 and is described as "working stable." Aside from a damaged fender, the body appears fairly decent. Listing.

$1,800 / 230,000 mi.
The cheapest minivan also ties for the overall cheapest vehicle. According to the listing, this Odyssey LX Minivan's engine and transmission are in excellent condition, the sliding doors work perfectly, and it has brand new tires. Listing.
