College Hunks to Receive MoCo Business Award
Leaders of Montgomery County business and industry, joined by a who's who of Maryland politicians, gather next month in North Bethesda for the Montgomery Board of Trade (MBOT) 2024 Business Awards Dinner.
The event celebrates the best of Montgomery County's business community with awards in ten different categories. Among this year's honorees is College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving in Rockville, a first for the local DC/MD franchise.
College Hunks will be recognized for its community awareness through signage initiative, where the company creates brand recognition and shares its phone number by planting hundreds of colorful plastic 18x24-inch yard sale-style signs on roadway medians and curbside verges county-wide.
"From Damascus to Takoma and from Darnestown to White Oak, College Hunks 18x24-inch signs are woven into the fabric of our communities," MBOT said in a press release.
All eyes will be on College Hunks at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center when MBOT presents the company with the Corporate Social Irresponsibility Award. The award goes to the company that best exemplifies acting in its own selfish interests while simultaneously flaunting state and county laws and junking up neighborhoods with callous disregard for the people who live there.
"No one in Montgomery County is more deserving of this award, although the mattress and furniture liquidators were fierce competitors," an MBOT spokesperson told The Montgonion.
College Hunks Hauling Junk began operations in 2004 in the DC Metro region and was co-founded by Omar Soliman and Nick Friedman. It has grown into a franchise with locations throughout North America.
