New and Coming Soon to Kentlands-Lakelands

The Kentlands Citizen Association has announced a list of businesses that are new and coming soon to the Kentlands-Lakelands community under their waterfront gentrification initiative:

The Amelia Belle: A grand old riverboat built in the style of its vintage ancestors has taken up permanent mooring on Lake Varuna off Lakelands Drive. The Amelia Belle offers turn-of-the-century splendor combined with generous promotions like the $10,000 cash giveaway and a lucky $777 slot jackpot. The casino consists of over 500 slot machines and 11 table games in its 30,000 square feet of gaming space. There are two restaurants, The Cajun Buffet and the Bayou Cafe. The casino is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Occoquan Airboat Adventures: The popular Northern Virginia airboat adventure company’s newest location at Inspiration Lake in the Kentlands will offer tours starting this fall. Adventures will launch from Firehouse Lane every hour for a 45-minute exploration of the 25-acre lake’s flora and fauna. Keeping a promise from their Occoquan tours, Inspiration Lake guests are guaranteed to see an alligator, or the ride is free. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Lake Nirvana Water Park: Get ready to barrel down the four-story slides of Gaithersburg Gulch!  Lake Nirvana Water Park is coming to the Kentlands in summer 2025, featuring a lily pad walk, activity beach, and 40-foot-tall waterslides. Rent a pavilion and stay all day with your group. Catering and event planning are available. Free parking.
