WSSC Offers Free Under Carriage Wash in Aspen Hill

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission in cooperation with the Maryland State Highway Administration is offering a free vehicle under carriage wash and suspension system challenge test in Aspen Hill. The drive-thru service is available 24/7 at the intersection of Bel Pre Road and Georgia Avenue.

Drivers approach the wash and suspension test from the eastbound lane of Bel Pre Road, where a series of water-filled "challenge pits" of indistinguishable depth simultaneously stress struts, springs and ball joints while bathing them in waves of fresh drinking water.

Fresh drinking water cleans the under carriage and removes pesky pollen.

Aspen Hill residents first saw the new vehicle wash in January. By February it was a trending topic in their neighborhood Facebook group, where several people who made calls said WSSC and the county were well aware of water bubbling through the asphalt. By March, residents shared that the additional suspension test was taking shape, with several challenge pits formed and more under development.

At the beginning of April, WSSC installed temporary signage at the Aspen Hill vehicle under carriage wash and suspension system challenge, indicating additional improvements to the system are forthcoming. No date has been established.

WSSC signage installed a few weeks ago indicates additional improvements are coming, maybe.

Aspen Hill residents say the constant stream of water running down Bel Pre Road is a great reminder of all the additional WSSC services that come with ever rising water bills.

New challenge divots like this one extend beyond Bel Pre Road and into the Aspen Hill neighborhood.
