Glenmont Galleria Plans Clear Council
Developers are one step closer to breaking ground on the Glenmont Galleria after the Montgomery County Planning Commission voted 8 to 1 to approve phase one construction plans at their meeting on Wednesday.
Glenmont Galleria shopping mall in Montgomery County will be an eight-story structure located on Georgia Avenue between its intersections with Layhill Road and Randolph Road. The Galleria replaces the 1950s era Glenmont Shopping Center building currently on the site.
Glenmont Galleria will boast a distinctive collection of high-end retail shops that includes over 30 exclusive-to-market designers like Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Tiffany & Co. The mall anchors include Bloomingdale's, Macy's, and Nordstrom.
In addition to some of DC and Maryland’s favorite restaurants and dining options like Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, Glenmont Galleria will offer one-of-a-kind entertainment experiences.
With 48 lanes, three bars and a 200-game video arcade, the Tuffy Leeman Entertainment Center will host everything from kids’ birthday parties to world-class bowling championships. The Abdulaziz II American Dream Indoor Ski and Snowboard Park will feature 4.8 acres of skiable area, 7,000 tons of snow, four trails, and a terrain park.
Glenmont Galleria is a join venture of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) and Martin & Wurst, a local builder whose development of The Gables of South Aspen Hill wraps up later this year. KHC, a Saudi conglomerate whose main interests are financial services and real estate, recently broke ground on the Al Waleed bin Talal Al Saud Islamic Entertainment Center and Mosque in Gaithersburg.
Glenmont Galleria’s grand opening is scheduled to coincide with the debut of its neighbor, the Ritz Carlton Country Boy Resort and Spa, in late 2025.
