Drones Heard Around Leisure World
Authorities responded twice yesterday to reports of drones heard in the Leisure World retirement community in Silver Spring, once as a large crowd gathered at a community center event.
The first drone became audible immediately after "First Ladies Man" author Andrew Och took the stage at the Distinguished Lecturer Series. "It was a deep, hum-like sound that continued to increase minute-by-minute and filled the room," Och said.
Officers from the Leisure World Security Signal Corps using AI enhanced listening devices identified three types of drones in the area. The sound came from Vhatdidhesay drones made by Kvetching Aeronautics, Grousing Industries Igot-2P drones, and Schnoring Aviation model Z-zzz drones.
A second incident occurred later in the afternoon around the Leisure World Clubhouse Restaurant, reaching the highest decibels during the 4:30-5:00pm early-bird peak. This time officials say the deep drone sounds were punctuated by high pitched whines distinctive to Dulcogallaxic UR2SLO and 2SAL-T drones.
Who is behind the drones is still unknown, but several Leisure World residents are suspects. Photos taken near the Leisure World restaurant offered clues--small tips and a trail of gas.
