Trump Names Himself Storekeeper of Sesame Street, Fires 'DEI Muppets'

President Trump says he is taking over leadership of Sesame Street. He declared himself the owner of Hooper's Store on the long-celebrated PBS cultural institution on Friday. In doing so, he'll replace Alan Muraoka, who has played the role since 1998.

Trump posted on Truth Social he was immediately terminating "multiple Muppets" from the Sesame Workshop "who were inserted by woke DEI Democrats who do not share our vision for a Golden Age in Children's Arts and Culture, like the 1940s Popeye cartoons."

"Just last year, Sesame Street featured extensive programming celebrating diversity in the neighborhood, with episodes like 'Use That Rice!' and 'The Sign Language ABCs.' THIS WILL STOP. For Sesame Street, THE BEST IS YET TO COME! We will transform Sesame Street into the Upper Fifth Avenue of children's television." Trump wrote.

A statement from the Sesame Workshop said they had received no official communications from the White House regarding changes, though they were aware that some Muppets received termination notices. "Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is in our DNA" the statement says.

"What DNA? They are made of soft material and foam stuffing, like Elon," Trump posted in response.

A White House spokesperson said new Sesame Workshop leadership will be announced soon “reflecting the President’s agenda.”
